ABOUT US

The Tatums, Steve Sally, have achieved a reality that started as a dream in 2003 when they planted their first grapevines as a hobby. Since then their adventure has grown into Grandfather Vineyard and Winery, the first producing winery in Watauga County.

Steve has been a custom furniture maker since 1977 and they have owned, Tatum Galleries, a retail furniture business in Banner Elk since 1978. Now you will find Steve in the vineyard most everyday, caring for his mountain side vineyard.

Dylan, Steve and Sally's son, is the winemaker. He has a degree in viticulture and enology and is creating a nice selection of whites, reds, rosés, and even an ice wine.

Their daughterJesse and son-in-law Lance are often found in the vineyard helping with planting, pruning, harvesting, and greeting visitors at the tasting room along with their son Lincoln.
